The storyline is told via cutscenes that also allow for the player to easily transition from one character to the other.
The game is a linear third-person shooter that puts the player in control of many of the main characters from the movie, shifting between both Autobot and Decepticon factions. They are in search of a mysterious object from space that will gift the balance of power. Since the end of the first movie Decepticons have began popping up again all over Earth.
Set a few years after the defeat of Megatron in the first game/movie, Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen reveals that the threat from the Decepticons has in fact, far from ended. Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen is a game based on the movie of the same name.
